Jabari Hinson becomes second Ames junior to join 100-win club

Posted January 24, 2024

Jabari Hinson clinched career varsity win No. 100 over the weekend at the 2024 Ed Winger Classic in Urbandale. Hinson, ranked No. 4 in the most recent IAWrestle top-12s, placed fifth in a stacked bracket. Hinson earned the 100th victory by topping Waverly-Shell Rock’s No. 7-ranked Zane Behrends for the third time this season.

Hinson is just the second junior to enter the eight-man 100-Win Club at Ames High, joining Marcus Coleman ’17 with that distinction. Coleman ended his prep career with a school-record 159 victories before becoming a five-time NCAA qualifier and two-time All-American at Iowa State.

Hinson enters the home stretch of the season with a 100-15 career record and looks to defend and extend his state runner-up finish from a year ago.
