About Girls Soccer

Ames graduated 11 girls soccer players after the 2021 season and the young lineup in 2022 led the season to the IGHSAU Regional Final before falling to West Des Moines Valley. The Little Cyclone girls soccer program is under the leadership of former Ames boys soccer player Bobby Myers.

Team scoring

Cameron Moon was second on the team in scoring with nine goals all while prepping for an eventual state championship with the Ames 4×400 relay team.

2021

Goals & Assists

In 2021, then-freshman Alexis Winkey recorded six goals and eight assists immediately following her leadership among the newly formed girls wrestling contingent at Ames High.

2017

State Championship

The Ames High girls soccer program has had sustained success, but a pinnacle was reached in 2017 when Bobby Myers led the team to state championship, knocking off powerhouses Iowa City West and West Des Moines Valley in back-to-back days for the crown.
