Dallas Sauser breaks state single-game record

Posted October 3, 2022

Ames quarterback Dallas Sauser passed for 590 total yards in a victory over Sioux City North on the road. That mark tops the state’s previous best set by West Sioux Hawarden’s Porter Hummel in 2014. The previous record for the state’s largest class was when Des Moines Hoover’s Byron Harrett passed for 543 yards in a 2017 victory over Des Moines Lincoln. Former Little Cyclone and current Iowa linebacker Joe Evans currently holds the seventh best mark in state history when he threw for 520 in a 2017 win over at Sioux City West.

Completing 34 of 47 attempts, Sauser threw for six touchdowns, setting a school record. That broke an 11-way tie that was previously matched by Tamin Lipsey in a high-scoring shootout at Fort Dodge in 2020.
