Sauser Surpasses 5,000 Yards

Thanks in large part to a monster game from senior receiver Jalen Lueth, the Ames High School football team got the job done against Marshalltown in its season opener Friday at Ames.

Lueth and Ames quarterback Dallas Sauser combined to lead the Little Cyclones to a 33-17 victory over the Bobcats. On the opening drive of the first game of the season, Dallas Sauser surpassed 5,000 career passing yards.

“It’s always good to start out 1-0,” Sauser said. “The second half came and we just made a few more plays than they did and it came out in our favor.”

Ames led 13-10 at the half and held on over the final 24 minutes as the defense came up big when it mattered. Jamison Poe also ran the ball well for the Little Cyclones, who earned their second straight season-opening victory over Marshalltown.
