Band Programs

Marching Band

All students in the AHS band program are in the marching band. The band functions as a marching unit during September and October.

Wind Symphony

Students are selected for the wind symphony through auditions in the fall. Symphonic band is limited to student in grades 10-12. In addition to the Holiday, Winter and Spring concerts, the band also performs at a number of other concerts.

Symphonic Band

Students are selected for the symphonic band through auditions in the fall. Symphonic band is limited to student in grades 10-12. The concert band performs grade 3 and 4 literature and performs at the Holiday, Winter and Spring concerts.

Concert Band

Students are selected for the symphonic band through auditions in the spring of the previous year. Concert band is limited to students in grades 10-12. The concert band performs grade 2 and 3 literature and performs at the Holiday, Winter and Spring concerts.

Ninth Grade Band

The ninth grade band includes all ninth grade students in the AHS band program. The ninth grade band performs at the Holiday, Winter and Spring concerts.

Percussion Techniques

Percussion Techniques include percussion students in grade 10-12. Students will perform with the marching band during the fall and will have opportunities to perform percussion ensembles at the Holiday Concert. Percussionists in Percussion Techniques will audition for placement in either Concert Band, Symphonic Band, or Wind Symphony in the spring.

Jazz Band

Participation in the AHS jazz program is determined through auditions held in the fall. Students interested in the jazz style and improvisation make up the membership of the jazz ensembles. The jazz bands perform at a number of jazz clinics and festivals during the year. Jazz band begins in October and ends in April.

Pep Band

Approximately 60 members are selected to participate in the pep band. This band plays at home basketball games and pep meetings. Membership is based upon audition results and instrumentation needs.
