About National Art Honor Society (NAHS)

National Art Honor Society provides members with national recognition and opportunities to exhibit more outstanding scholarship in the visual arts. Participation in NAHS provides you with invaluable benefits, including peer recognition, leadership growth opportunities, portfolio development, college and career preparation, recognition of your art program, and so much more. Students must apply to be members of National Art Honor Society. The student must be enrolled in grades 9-12, and have a minimum GPA in art classes of “B.” to be eligible for membership. Membership is based upon art scholarship, service, and character. Students should plan on having their application submitted by the end of October to get the most benefits. Email lindsay.wede@ames.k12.ia.us for an application and any questions. National Art Honor Society members are part of Art Club, but Art Club members are not required to join National Art Honor Society. The Art Club is a place for practicing artists to work on their own art, hone in on their skills, develop their techniques and portfolios, collaborate with other artists like themselves, create bonds with the community through the arts, and learn how to work together through group projects that will beautify the school and community.
