The girls basketball program saw a five win increase in its 2022-23 season, highlighted by wins over Waterloo East and Ottumwa. Back for his second season at the direction of the program, head coach Cole Cook returns 98% of offensive output from a season ago. Anisa Percival led the team in scoring a 9.6 points per game, tallying 211 on the season

Best SeasonHistorically, Ames’ best season came in 2009 when a Trisha Nesbitt-led Little Cyclone team took down top-ranked and previously undefeated Linn-Mar in the state semifinals before dropping the title game to Sioux City North, 51-45. The Little Cyclones finished with a 23-3 record that year.
